Dance greetings from Africa: meet the teams behind the videos

What actually happens on a Qteros shoot? A look at the teams behind our dance greetings, how they interpret a brief, and how to choose the style that fits your person.

A dance greeting is a simple idea executed with care: take someone’s words, give them to a team, and let movement do the rest. What happens between the brief and the final video is the interesting part.

How a shoot works

Most shoots are outdoors, in the morning or late afternoon when the light is soft. The team arrives with the chalkboard, the costumes, and a speaker. The brief is read aloud. The name is practiced until everyone can say it naturally.

Then the team blocks the performance: where to stand, when to turn to camera, how long to hold the board. The spoken phrase is rehearsed separately so it does not get lost in the choreography. We film two or three takes, review them on the spot, and refilm anything that feels off.

The result should feel like a room reacting to a person — not a script being executed.

How to choose a dance style

Ask three questions:

  1. What would make them laugh? If they have a playful sense of humor, The Flying Tigers or The Boxing Team will land. If they are more reserved, choose The Male Lions or The Mercenaries.
  2. What is the occasion? Birthdays can be playful. Weddings and ceremonies often suit traditional styling. Milestones can carry more drama.
  3. What will they rewatch? The best video is the one they show someone else. Choose the style they would be proud to share.

About the songs

Each video includes one song choice. We keep a list of songs that work well for short performances — songs with a clear beat, a recognizable hook, and enough space for a spoken line. If you have a specific song in mind, add it on the product page and we will confirm availability before filming.

Why dance?

Because a dance is a celebration you can see. It fills the frame with intention. When the team turns to the camera and says your recipient’s name, the movement has already told them: this is for you.
